Bio

Gilbert Neri is a multimedia artist whose creative work ranges from book illustration, printmaking, mural work, sculpture to multimedia installation. Although his artwork takes many forms, common themes such as those of passage, migration and the links between place and notions of home.

His work has been exhibited throughout California and Seattle Washington. While living in Seattle he helped to create an artist collective “Noodleworks” that exhibited emerging artists from the region as well as nationally. He was also one of three founding organizers of “Art Detour” Seattle, a City-wide open studio event that spanned three days and included over 150 participating artists. His experience includes digital imaging and publishing as well as digital illustration, book design and print color management.

Gilbert Neri received his MFA from the University of California Santa Barbara, and a BA from the University of California San Diego. He has also studied printmaking and children’s book illustration at Il Bisonte, international School of printmaking in Florence italy. His teaching experience includes, printmaking, illustration, sculpture, digital imaging, and drawing. He currently teaches at the California State University Monterey Bay as Assistant professor of Integrated Media and Theory.
